Founder of Tele-Therapist
My
career spans 23 years in the mental health field. I first
began practicing psychotherapy in 1974 as a therapist for
persons admitted to a large metropolitan hospital in my
home town of Cincinnati, Ohio. I received my Master's
degree in clinical psychology in 1981 and when Ohio
instituted licensing procedures, I was certified as a
Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor, license number
E1358. Following this, I continued my therapy practice at
several mental health centers including 12 years as the
Clinical Director of two community mental heath centers
in Ohio and Montana. In this capacity I supervised
literally dozens of therapists while continuing to
develop my own clinical practice expertise. As a clinical
supervisor, I was exposed to a multitude of therapeutic
models and all the newest techniques that have proven to
be helpful. Consequently I have developed and refined my
therapeutic skills into an approach that I believe works
very successfully for many people. I currently live in
the Rocky Mountains of Montana where, prior to my private
practice, I worked as the Director of a mental health
center for 8 years. I am also a Licensed Clinical
Professional Counselor in Montana, license number 803.
Through my various experiences,
I have developed an appreciation for the application of
phone therapy as a viable alternative to traditional
face-to-face counseling. In this way, I could help the
thousands of people that were experiencing emotional pain
and yet were unable or unwilling to go to a therapist. I
have developed a therapeutic approach that focuses on
creating a safe, warm, supportive, and non-judgmental
relationship that will allow us to explore and resolve
problems together. I believe a respectful, empathic
relationship is essential for the therapeutic process to
be effective.
